Through Paint Up with Kamamma we have transformed walls into murals beautifying houses to tell stories, depict social history, and reawaken the cultural significance of the area

Compost before and after — Around 30% of the waste stream is food - this and other organic material was being sent to landfill impacting on the environment and public health. We have provided training and installed Green Johanna composters with the resulting compost being used to grow food

Waste Before and after master — We have transitioned waste that was burned in the community, into crafts stimulating local economic development

Garden before and after — We removed waste and invasive species to develop La Bloemen botanical garden at our former Home Office. The garden was used as a community resource and led to the return indigenous species

Church Before and after master upload — Working with the community we regenerated the depilated St Augustine's church into a community resource which was returned to the custodianship of the Church in 2020

Food growing before and after — We regenerated impoverished land for food growing to be used in meals for Cook Up Kamamma, Dreamcatcher Kids and distribution into the community

Dreamcatcher South Africa was founded to address the challenges holding back quality of life in communities and their local environment.

There are three pillars to sustainability: social, environmental, and economic. When Dreamcatcher started its journey, business and development were rooted in narrow, parochial economic models – with little regard for people or the environment. Sadly, this outdated approach still underpins much of business today.

Powered by research, experience, and bold innovation, Dreamcatcher South Africa creates community-driven solutions. By uniting people and planet in one vision, we’re shaping a future that is inclusive, sustainable, and within reach.

For over three decades, we have consistently walked the talk – developing award-winning, inclusive models that create lasting impact in communities. Today, our work is internationally recognised and can be duplicated to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. See the images above highlighting examples of our impactful work.

With just five years remaining until the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal deadline, the pressure has never been greater. There is increased scrutiny on how industry, governments, institutions, and communities are responding, and will continue to respond, to meet the targets. Growing emphasis on climate change, wellbeing, habitat loss, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and the transition from a linear to a circular economy underscores the urgency.

More than ever, people want to see sustainable development in action—and Dreamcatcher is leading the way.

That’s why the next step in our journey is the Dreamcatcher Sustainable Futures Centre, which will provide:

A permanent hub in South Africa where knowledge and skills are shared with the community, aspiring enterprises, educators, and visitors.
A space focused on women and youth—the leaders of tomorrow—to learn how sustainability is put into practice.
A living blueprint for communities worldwide to replicate, adapt, and thrive.
