This was the first mural painted in the new housing development in Melkhoutfontein.
Titled “Dearly Departed Dreamcatchers”, it adorns Jaco and Elmordine’s home and honours community members who have passed on — including those who made significant contributions working alongside Dreamcatcher for the greater good of Melkhoutfontein.
Painted in 2024, the mural depicts the community in dance, with the souls of the departed rising into the night sky, transforming into stars.
Many residents have expressed how proud they feel of this artwork — how it brings beauty, colour, and culture into the heart of the community. It has even inspired requests for more murals to be created on their own homes
Elmordine is a proud Dreamcatcher Kamamma who does incredible work in the community. She supports a wide range of Dreamcatcher programmes, mentors and inspires local youth, warmly welcomes visitors, and, as an accredited Tour Guide, leads our unique WalkAbouts™ through Melkhoutfontein.
