Since our inception, collaboration has been at the heart of Dreamcatcher’s journey. We have worked with institutions across the world to both strengthen our work and share knowledge — building connections that continue to shape our impact.
Back in 2002, our work on harnessing tourism for community-based local development was recognised in a paper published by the University of Sussex in the UK. Now, almost 25 years later, we were delighted to come full circle — collaborating once again with the University through its Career Lab initiative.
Career Lab is a dynamic programme designed to equip students with real-world experience by working on practical projects with organisations. In late 2025, we partnered with a group of five talented students who brought fresh perspectives and energy to our work, focusing on developing new marketing ideas.
Their work explored a range of important questions, including how effectively our website and social media communicate our mission, values, and impact; what we can learn from similar organisations; and how storytelling can better showcase the heart of what we do. They also examined new digital tools and platforms to enhance engagement, fundraising, and visibility — while identifying broader opportunities to grow our reach and deepen our impact.
The students did an outstanding job, presenting thoughtful, creative, and practical ideas. We are excited that several of these will be taken forward and developed further in 2026.
It was a truly rewarding experience engaging with such a passionate and insightful group. A heartfelt thank you to Yassine (BA International Relations), Maria (MA Environment, Development and Policy), Tobi (BA International Development), Basir (BA Mechanical Engineering), and Sahil (BSc Finance and Business), as well as the dedicated Career Lab team at the University of Sussex.
We are also especially pleased that some members of the group will be visiting South Africa to undertake further research — strengthening this connection even more. This collaboration is a powerful reminder of the value of shared learning, fresh ideas, and global partnerships — and we look forward to seeing where this journey leads next.
