What a truly special day it has been, celebrating Coby and Hans’ 50th wedding anniversary in the heart of Melkhoutfontein — a milestone filled with love, meaning, and the joy of sharing it with community.
We were especially delighted to welcome members of the Dreamcatcher Nederland Board, who joined us in celebrating their own 50th wedding anniversary. Sharing this remarkable milestone together, across continents and connections, made the occasion even more meaningful and memorable. Hans and Coby have spent many years volunteering to support Dreamcatcher including fundraising activities to working on the ground in communities.
The day began with a visit to the beach alongside the Dreamcatcher Kids. Although the ocean is not far away, it remains a rare and exciting experience for many of them — making the outing all the more special. The children had prepared a beautiful surprise: a dance performed near the historic fish traps, a powerful heritage site established by the Khoi-San, the original people of South Africa. It was a moment rich in culture, connection, and celebration.
After the performance, the day unfolded with simple pleasures — laughter, swimming in the sea, and the delight of flying a homemade kite along the shore. A relaxed picnic brought everyone together before heading back home, hearts full from the shared experience.
As evening fell, the celebrations continued with a lovingly prepared dinner by the Kamammas — each one bringing their incredible cooking talents to the table. The meal was a true reflection of care and community. To end the day, a beautiful cake was shared, marking not just 50 years of marriage, but a lifetime of impact, partnership, and dedication.
It was, in every sense, a successful and deeply memorable day — a celebration not only of Cobi and Hans’ journey together, but of the community they love and have been regular visitors for almost 2 decades. Here’s to 50 wonderful years — and many more moments of connection, purpose, and joy.
