This Tourism Month, under the theme ‘Tourism and Sustainable Transformation’, Dreamcatcher South Africa celebrates the power and concrete impact of inclusive tourism and the extraordinary people making it possible.
Behind every Dreamcatcher initiative stands a dynamic network of women and youth, driving innovative tourism services and transforming communities. Through our globally acclaimed, legally branded Homestay– and CookUp with Kamamma™ accommodation and traditional meal experiences, WalkAbout™ tours, and waste-to-craft Made in Melkhoutfontein™ initiative, tourism enterprises are generating income and contributing to local economic growth.
Recently 15 enterprises welcomed visitors from the Netherlands, Belgium, USA, and the UK into communities such as Melkhoutfontein (Stilbaai), Darling, !Khwa ttu San, and Kayamandi (Stellenbosch) —where they experienced South Africa’s warm hospitality, vibrant culture, and stunning natural beauty. And more visitors are on their way! 😊
We are deliberately reimagining South African itineraries to extend across a wider geographic area, creating greater opportunities for economic growth and community participation. For young people, Dreamcatcher is unlocking opportunities once out of reach, guiding them toward enterprise, employment, and a future they can truly own — and thrive in.
Dreamcatcher is about more than tourism — our human-centred, collaborative ethos fosters cross-cultural understanding, promotes participatory environmental stewardship, and drives sustainable growth. Visitors leave inspired — many return to volunteer, intern, and conduct research, deepening their connection with the local people. The income generated stays in the community, circulating locally, strengthening self-reliance, and stimulating broader regional development.
For over three decades, Dreamcatcher has proven that transformative change is not only possible — it’s happening. This Tourism Month, we celebrate the power of inclusive tourism and the local changemakers who, together with Dreamcatcher, are reshaping the future of travel.
