Since our inception over 30 years ago we have worked on a range of integrated projects focusing on youth development.

This month we are elated to be appointed as project managers for the STEPi – (Squaring the Education Pyramid Institute) programme in South Africa. Sharing a passion to improve literacy and cognitive development, this is the latest collaboration been the Utopia Foundation and Dreamcatcher.

STEPi publishes books written in English that encourage empathy, self-awareness, and inclusivity, focusing on the emotional development of children. There are now over a dozen story and activity STEPi books addressing English, mathematics, geography, and emotional wellness.

Our role, mainly focusing on the Western Cape, will be to engage with schools to understand their needs, meeting with head teachers and teaching staff to explain the project and assessing which books are best suited for the grade levels and curriculum milestones, conducting in-class readings and interactive sessions, and assessing impact. In addition, we will manage book requests via courier to other parts of South Africa, collating book inventories, ensuring the safe storage of the books, and providing follow up support.

We look forward to helping to improve literacy skills throughout the country.
